The Cementum is a significant calcified tissue layer that envelopes the root of the tooth
sitting within the gum socket, and its protection is of eminent importance for the quality of
healing after both periodontal non-surgical and surgical treatments. With the aim of
protecting the dental patient, Guided Biofilm Therapy (GBT) offers a sensitive and non-
invasive solution to otherwise erroneous or aggressive use of mechanical dental tools.
The use of Guided Biofilm Therapy (GBT) gives improved patient cooperation due to less
pain perception during surgical and nonsurgical periodontal therapy.
